Unwanted Words is thrilled to announce a brand-new season of Queer Poetry Nights in Rotterdam and Amsterdam! From September through December, we’ll be hosting monthly open mics that celebrate queer voices, stories, and creativity in all its forms.
What are Queer Poetry Nights?
Queer Poetry Nights are open mic evenings dedicated to uplifting LGBTQIA+ poets, storytellers, and spoken word artists. They are free events where community members come together to share their words, listen to each other’s stories, and celebrate the diversity of queer experiences. Whether you’re an experienced performer or stepping on stage for the first time, Queer Poetry Nights provide a safer space for authentic expression.
At each open mic, performers are invited to share their work with an affirming audience. You’ll hear a mix of poetry, spoken word, and sometimes even music or performance art. The atmosphere is welcoming, inclusive, and deeply rooted in solidarity.
How to Apply for the Open Mic
Sign-ups for our open mics open when each event is announced. Keep an eye on our social media and website for the registration links. Spots are limited and tend to fill up quickly, so make sure to secure your place early if you’d like to perform.
