
Queer Poetry Nights #12 LGBT Asylum Support x Unwanted Words
We are happy to come back with our series of Queer Poetry Nights after a very needed break since the 1st Queer & Feminist Poetry Awards in September. And now we are back with the proper COVID-19 measures through a Zoom event and with a beautiful line-up that will inspire you.Unwanted Words is a platform in Rotterdam for new up & coming queer voices. We organize a series of Queer Poetry Nights to create a safe(r) space for queer expression and encourage all queer voices to take the mic and share their literary work.For this event, we partnered with LGBT Asylum. LGBT Asylum Support is a Dutch NGO (Non-Governmental Organization). They support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) asylum seekers in the Netherlands. They are a link between LGBT refugees and other Dutch organizations to help asylum seekers. Our host this event will be the Ra!nx, who got an honorable mention for Best BIPOC Performance earlier this year.
THE PROGRAM:
15:45 – Doors open. People can join the Zoom room and hang out, chat for a while, share experiences, etc.
16:00 – Show starts! Our host, the Ra!nx will begin the show and introduce our line-up of queer performers part of the LGBT Asylum Support Network
17:00 – Open mic
17:30-18:00 – Free time to interact.This event is FREE.
Line-up
Every edition we offer 4-5 spots for the line-up. Normally, the line-up for each edition is selected on a first-come, first served basis. This event is connected to the “Queer writing, workshops & showcase for LGBTI-refugees” we’ve been working on in the past few weeks. 3 workshop sessions led by Lily Clarisa, poet, author and winner of the Awesome Poet Award.And the line-up will be composed of people who belong to the LGBT Asylum Support Network and took part of this workshops.Here are the performers for this evening:
